This course, from the Foundation Skills Training Package, is being delivered at various sites across Queensland.

It can be delivered in:

  • high schools;
  • in schools with components delivered at an Outdoor or Environmental Education Centre; or,
  • at an Outdoor or Environmental Education Centre.

FSK Course

The Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways:
  • contributes four QCE credits and satisfies QCE literacy and numeracy and completed core requirements
  • includes transferable workplace skills and knowledge e.g. OHS, Indigenous cultural knowledge
  • builds students’ capability for workforce entry or vocational training pathways

This course is designed for high school students in the Senior Phase. It is targeted at, but not limited to, Indigenous students. The course can be completed in the school or at an alternative delivery site. Outdoor and Environmental Education Centres are utilised where possible to provide students with learning opportunities outside the traditional school setting, enable students to engage in hands-on learning in the natural environment and provide different scenarios for work-related tasks.

The course can be completed in 6 months to 1 year and covers:

  • Language, literacy and numeracy skills in the workplace
  • Work Health and Safety
  • Australian Indigenous cultural knowledge
  • Employability skills and learning pathways

Suitable for students in Years 10 -12, this course contributes 4 points towards their QCE.
